Saint Patrick's Day

Why do we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? The primary reason for the celebration is to drink heavilly. (Not that most of us need a reason for that.) But the TRUE reason is to commemorate the feast day of Saint Patrick, a Christian missionary who later on became the patron saint of Ireland. It is held every 17th day of March, which is believed to be the date of his death. English-speaking countries, individuals of Irish ancestry and anyone who likes the color green are just few of the many groups that devotedly follow this special annual celebration.

.. As ive mentioned. I am SOOOOOOO excited to be going away for the New York City Gay Men's Chorus' annual retreat weekend tomorrow. And St Patrick's day has wrecked my mood.!! Because of this "special" holiday, 30% of Staten Island's bus drivers called out today so I had to wait for an hour and a half for my bus.. When it arrived, it was packed to the rafters with other pissed off commuters who had been waiting on their street corners. Then i had to deal with 3 people ALREADY vomiting on the ferry ( it was only 1pm!!!!) Once I got in to the city my train went express to 34th street. Letting me off in front of Penn station .. home of the drunken irish commuter... Calgon take me away!!!!!

What the what? Wednesdays.

Good morning Everybody

TV was soooooooo good last night. I got home late and was up all night (I'm usually up all night anyway because I'm an insomniac) but last night I was up because i wanted to be!! lets get started!  (spoiler alert!!!)

What the What!!! All hell broke loose with V last night it was the best episode of the series so far. Dumb ass Lisa fell prey to human emotion and believed that her mother wanted to help and not hurt humanity. And failed by not killing her. Ryan was killed by his daughter.. Chad Dekker was found out as a two-faced ho ( and will be disposed of) Anna went crazy, killed her mother, locked up Lisa and cloned her to mate with Tyler (as with all good hook-ups you kill him when you're done right? .....no?  just me? ....anyone? Bueller? ...........crickets) ANYWAY!! Anna discovered that she could use her "bliss" to mind control humans. and she blissed all mankind (except Erica and the secret society that lives under NYC that includes the FBI AND  Donovan from the original V series) Very nice turn of events... I was so excited I almost peed myself.. When is it returning? I have no Idea. No previews No Nothing.. Drives me nuts!!  SOoo good!!

GLEE made me giddy with glee last night. New Directions won regionals with all original songs.  Kurt found true love and had his first gay kiss ( 2 actually) with his Warbler co-star  (sigh) Rachel actually didn't drive me crazy last night.. I felt sorry for her and liked her song...
The team song was the best!! Kathy Griffin and Loretta Devine guest starred and had all of 2 mins of screen time and it was worth every second GENIUS!!..  YAY GLEE

Amen Fairy Fridays!!

Good Day Fairies!!

Only 1 week until I'm whisked away to Asbury Park, NJ for a fun filled retreat with the NYC Gay Men's Chorus (YAY!!) I'm Soooo excited for this annual pilgrimage of exhaustive debauchery. Where we prepare for the spring concert,  (Big Gay Sing 3-D March 25 & 26th @ 8pm) that I have been shamelessly promoting on this blog.

Before I get to the Amens for the week, I want to take the time to acknowledge the earthquake and resulting tsunami that rocked Japan last night. The total extent of the damage and loss of life is yet unknown.  We've endured hurricanes and earthquakes in this country in my lifetime.. But nothing of this magnitude. Such devastation is foreign to me and my personal experience. My thoughts are with the victims and the survivors of this tragedy.

Comedy Central has found ratings gold with their "Roast" series which until now has included such joke worthy recipients as Pamela Andersen and David Hasstlehoff. Last night this honor was given to the one and only Donald Trump. Amen to that!!! The roasters include all the regulars, Jeff Ross, Lisa Lampinelli and Whitney Cummings.  Larry King was also a big hit (who I hear takes a gay jab at his ex co-worker Anderson Cooper.. cant wait!!) Get your Aqua Net ready for your toupe'. This cornucopia of comedy will air on March 15th.

Women in a Swedish study who drank at least a cup of coffee every day had a 22 to 25% lower risk of stroke, compared to those who drank less coffee or none at all. So I guess as a gay man, I've got a 11 to 15% lower risk of stroking out. YAY for me and Amen for 3 or more cups of Joe a day!! Sorry straight guys.. I guess you wish you were a little more lady-like now don't you? HA! Enjoy your coffee (and your stroke!!)

St. Patrick’s Day is more than an excuse to drink and cheer the Irish. It’s just that it is so much fun to drink and cheer the Irish! So in an effort not to water down this sacred day, today's Fairy Friday Cocktail is in honor of Patrick pleasers. (Ive known 2 Patricks who were very good at pleasing me. Okkrrr!!) Cheers to them and all of the Irish. Enjoy the weekend!!

Paddy’s Cocktail

2 oz  Silver Tequila
1/2 oz Lemon juice
1/2 oz Simple syrup
2 inches of cucumber diced finely
A large pinch of cilantro

Make sure you have chilled Coupe or Martini glasses ready. Dice the cucumber and add to a boston shaker, then crush with a muddler. Add a large pinch of cilantro. Add the Herradura Silver, lemon juice and simple syrup. Fill with ice and shake hard. Strain into the chilled coupe/ martini glass. Garnish with a disc of cucumber and a cilantro leaf.

What the what? Wednesday

Hello my loyal fairies. Welcome to What the what? Wednesday. This week's DVR smorgasbord includes RuPaul's Drag Race, Glee and Desperate Bros and Ho's (Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters) I've been under the weather for the past few days so needless to say ive gotten in a lot of T.V. viewing and not so much blogging...Here we go.. (spoiler alert)

Ding dong the bitch is dead.. Say good-bye to Delta Work. As a fellow big gurl, I wanted to like her sooo much, but she never brought it. I should have known when she walked out in that bikini printed t-shirt that she was done. As aways Shangela thought that her talent got her thru.. ( no dear you just weren't the worst one). I would have given the win to Yara Sophia. her little person costume/ comedy act was genius.Once again my girl Raja turned it with her bucket -o- blood "Carrie" costume.. (I need to make one of those) Manila.. you can leave my cake out in the rain anytime.. (amazing lip sync) Were getting closer and closer to the finish line of this race.. Who will win? They've already started their engines... I'm the best woman.. so who cares. lol

What the what??? Santana is a Lesbian... We knew she had bi tendencies but its official and they used Stevie Nicks' "Landslide" flush it out.. (even though the meaning of that song has been debated for centuries) To quote Antoine Dodson of "hide yo' kids, hide yo' wife" fame....  Britney.."you are so dumb, you really really dumb". "Three days ago a stork built its nest above my garage.. i'm not stupid it's obviously getting ready to bring me my baby" bless her heart.. As for the return of Holly Holiday (Gwyneth Paltrow) She's great. I couldn't imagine the role being played by anyone else. Sue likes her enema's Piping hot and "porcelain" needs to get with the program.. he's been playing the whole i'm gay story line but is a non-sexual unick. Not feeling that storyline.. after all "everyone's got a random" wrap it up kids.. wear a condom!!

Desperate Bros and Hos's has gotten so bad.. that neither is actually worthy of its own paragraph. The one redeeming light on Wisteria Lane was at the very end of the episode when Gabby finally came to her senses and wanted Juanita to perform her tap routine.. (Juanita was awful and her mother hid her tap shoes, preventing her from going on stage in the schools talent show.) It was sweet and made me tear up.. ( no worries im still a cold bitch.. the ice just melted a little bit) As for Brothers and Sisters. ... It's not even worth uploading the picture.. end of story..

What the what is wrong with my fucking roommates..? They went on tour for 2 weeks and didn't even tell me they were going away.. leaving their dog "precious" to fend for herself. I was woken up this morning by Precious' crying in the living room because she hadn't been walked for a whole day because I didn't know I had to. This is the most fucked up behavior i've ever seen.  They've done some odd things since i've moved in.. but this takes the cake. I really hope they don't decide to have actual children and behave as childishly as they have since i've known them..

Well that's how my day started.. I hope yours is better... xoxo

Duck.. Duck.. Duck...GOOSE!

Good morning everybody.. I'm feeling a bit bitchy today.. So my posting will be a bit random... filled with a few disconnected thoughts.. just stuff that's on my mind.

I'm exhausted.. and I missed my bus, and this woman and her kids are making a lot of noise next to me.. so excuse my attitude.. but... One thing I've noticed is that there are an extraordinary amount of ugly people out here on Staten Island. (and when i say ugly.. I MEAN UGLY!!!!!!) I don't know what it is.. is it inbreeding? do they ever get off the island to meet humans? I would love to start a page with pictures of all the uglies i encounter on this ferry.. i could start my own anti-model modelling agency. I cant help but notice the lack of eye candy around me..Every once in a while Ill see that lone beacon in the night.. a cute guy.. who is clearly just visiting!! Today I'm stuck with the lady and her 6 loud ass kids ( yes, they are all hers.. 'cuz they are just as ugly as she is.. ) First of all why didn't you stop after the second kid. You saw a pattern of ugly developing that would only breed itself and continue to weaken the human race... for the love of all things holy.. close your legs!!

Am I shallow?... On most days .. no. Actually, some might say I'm a little too deep. I realize that this topic makes me seem very ugly on the inside for saying such horrible things..  Do I feel bad about it..?  Not really no. 'cuz its true... Would I say it out loud to her face.. not a chance.. Why..? Because I'm basically a nice person and we are all emotional people... and clearly I'm having a rough morning~~

This weekend.. a friend of mine, Mark gave another friend Jeff, permission to exclude him from an event we were planning because he wasn't available for some of the prep work.  And so Jeff did. Even though Mark gave his permission he was actually really hurt that Jeff would exclude him so quickly. . I guess that comes from the secret trust we put in our friends that they will always look out for our best interests. and for the most part I think they do. The point and the lesson behind this story kids, is to say what you mean!!  Don't beat around the bush and make concessions to make others happy at your own expense. Don't give permission to be hurt and then be angry when it happens. That also applies to saying you've been hurt and expecting an apology.. emotions can run high.. and sometimes they can make decisions more difficult but you don't get what you don't ask for.

Anyway.. Ferry is pulling in... I'm off to work.. I hope my day gets better. It has to!!.. kisses

Amen Fairy Fridays

Hello Fairies.. I am soooo sorry for the delay in my Fairy reports this week.. As many of you know I am deep in the midst of rehearsals for The Big Gay Sing 3-D.. and I've just been exhausted on the ferry.. as i said in my first post.. some days you'll hear a lot from me and some days you'll just get what you get... so I'm back today to close out the week with Amen Fairy Fridays

New York City has abandoned a plan for a pedestrian plaza in the middle of 34th Street
The plan would have banned vehicles from the heavily traveled street between Herald Square and the Empire State Building.Over the past two years, the city has banned cars from parts of Times Square, Union Square and Herald Square in an effort to make it more pedestrian friendly. Like we need more people walking around Herald Square..How about we give people money for hitting pedestrians on that street with their cars? Amen for that!!

Amen for the "The Star-Spangled Banner" This week we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the song being declared the official national anthem of the United States The melody is from an 18th-century English drinking song. The words are from Francis Scott Key's 1814 poem about the bombardment of Fort McHenry. Put them together and you have a recipe for potential public humiliation. (Thanks Christina. It was good for me.)Somewhere between "Oh, say, can you see" and "the home of the brave, people mangle the verses and end up bombing as spectacularly as the shells that were bursting in air over the ramparts in Baltimore two hundred years ago.

Ya'll know I like free bees. Well this isn't a free bee  but it is a discount. For 15% off tickets to The Big Gay Sing 3-D, my show with the NYC Gay Men's Chorus, enter the code FFBGS3D it's only good until March 16th So get your tickets now!!

Today's Amen Fairy Friday cocktail is called "Bimbo Juice" and its courtesy of drinksmixer.com.. I love this site 'cause it allows you to scale the recipe for one or for multiple servings. This is the recipe as its given for one serving... (no wonder you become a bimbo when you drink it..) LOL.  Cheers

Scale ingredients to servings
1/2 bottle Skyy® vodka
1 qt 7-Up® soda
1 qt Squirt® citrus soda
4 lemons
3/4 cup powdered sugar

...with liberty and justice for ALL

Today's post has a bit of a political view. I'm using my soapbox to talk about a cause that is close to my heart marriage equality.

You all know that I'm not a particularly religious person. The institute of marriage is not only a religious ritual but one that is recognized by the law as a union worthy of 1,324 protections and rights that are not extended to gays and lesbian citizens. (What happened to a separation of church and state?)

As a gay man in America, I obey laws and I pay taxes. I try to give to charities and volunteer as much as possible. And I try to be an example to others on how to be kind and treat others well ( except when I'm bad-mouthing them on my blog  lol.) All those things are examples of being a model citizen. I don't think its fair that I am treated like a second-class citizen. Women still fight for equal pay and brown people will always struggle with racial bias as long as people can see color. but both are protected under the law. Being gay is the last civil rights movement of our time. Gay people are bullied a discriminated against everyday all over America and our government allows it. Last week, President Obama declared the Defense Of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional. Finally as far as the federal government is concerned they consider marriage and its many privileges to be just for a man and a woman is unjust. So its not equal protection under the law.. but its a step in the right direction.

My friend James asked me the other day if I would marry him.. and I said no..  Why you might ask? But I'm not sure I actually believe in marriage. I'm all for commitment. I am single and would love to have a partner to come home to. Someone who loves me unconditionally that I could curl up to every night. Someone who I would be proud to show off to the world as mine. . I want my partner to be there because he wants to be not because he is legally obligated to be. Almost like we should have to renew your marriage licence every 3 years. Because the whole til death do us part thing is clearly not working for the majority of the world with a divorce rate at an all time high.... Actually if marriage is such a sacred institution, why don't we outlaw divorce and see how important or sacred it would be..  Would anyone get married if they knew that divorce wasn't an option? Post your thoughts below. let me know what you think.

Today I am very proud of my friend Eugene (center)and the members of Queer Rising for standing up for their rights and the rights of all gay Americans by participating in a display of civil disobedience. In the intersection of 6th avenue and 42nd street they unfurled a 75 foot banner that read "NY DEMANDS MARRIAGE EQUALITY NOW!!" blocking traffic during rush hour this morning. Thank you for making a statement peacefully in the name of liberty, justice and equality for all!

Miss Ross

Contrary to poular belief, I am not going to post about the Oscars today.. If you want to read about how awful they were, go to any other blog than this one..When I fired up my DVR this weekend and saw who Oprah had on as a guest on Friday... I knew I had a to say something about..

MISS DIANA ROSS.

Diana Ross is one the most celebrated global icons in history with a remarkable career spanning over five decades.  Shes had 12 grammy nominations, one oscar nomination and has won a tony and a golden globe. She is one of only Six recording artists to receive 2 stars on the holllywood walk of fame and one of only 2 people for whom Oprah has EVER given up her seat on stage left to ( Barbara Streisand is the other)
Diana  or as she prefers.. Miss Ross.. looked amazing!! giving you three costume changes and singing 3 songs  ( one sung directly to Miss O, bringing her to tears) plus a great interview. ..

I was quite taken back by the appearance of all 5 of Miss Ross' children. I had always been under the impression that she did not have a good relationship with them.. but as it would appear (who knows, they could have all been putting on a good front for the cameras) they are a tight-knit and well-grounded family.

Who knew that normal could come from all that crazy Diana spews!! I bet she will be the next one to do Vegas.. and if she doesnt have plans to she needs to get on it!!! I watched "Lady sings the blues" last night on the Centric network ( for all you white people out there thats one of the black people channels you didnt know exists LOL) thats the movie that Diana recieved her Oscar nomination for.. she played Billie Holiday, another brilliant and troubled soul and a world-class crack head..

Well thats all for now... Hope you enjoyed your weekend! Mine was ok.. nothing to write home about.. see you tomorrow! Muah!!

Amen for Fairy Fridays!!

Amen for Fairy Fridays!! No I don't want to call it TGIF's ( because of the restaurant) and plus I'm an original and so is my blog. WERK!!

Can I get an Amen for my home state of Maryland who approved gay marriage yesterday in the state Senate.  If the House of Delegates approves it and the governor signs it, Maryland would be the sixth U.S. state to approve gay marriage!!  after all it is Mary-Land "the Land of Mary".. the state is named for the gays!! LOL  I might actually consider living there again after this.. Its a beautiful state.. and I love my family to pieces. Shout out to Laurel, MD.

For nine years, 'American Idol' fans could only vote for their favorite singers on the phone, either by calling or texting a number. Today, they announced that for season 10, the show is giving viewers the option to vote online starting with Tuesday night's first live show. I've never voted. but if I did I'd want to do it online for free and not pay to call or text it in. I'll say Amen for freebies!! (p.s. did you see J.Lo and her fake crying fit on Wed. night.. Gurl please)

Space shuttle Discovery, the world's most traveled spaceship, thundered into orbit for the final time yesterday, heading toward the International Space Station on a journey that marks the beginning of the end of the shuttle era. I'd like to say a big Amen to all those who have boldly gone where no one had gone before. Especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for science and exploration of our beautiful skies. You will not be forgotten. Cheers to you!

Speaking of cheers.. it is Friday and I cant say Amen without a cocktail...  Ive always been a Vodka/ Cranberry kind of girl..  but recently Ive become a Rum and Ginger w/ lime gurl. and I'm enjoying that.. but what better way to welcome the weekend with a new drink recipe to share. feel free to share a favorite of yours..I'll try it out and if it's tasty I'll publish it for all to see ( and yes, I'll give you the credit, I'm not that shady)

This weeks Amen worthy cocktail is called a "naked lady".  Now lets get something straight.. or. uh gay.. I have no interest in naked ladies.. only the drink.. I know ladies.. wipe the tears away.. There are many other fish in the sea..  just not many as cute as me.. :oP

Naked Lady

4 dashes of Apricot Brandy
1oz  White Rum
1oz  Sweet Vermouth
4 dashes of Lemon Juice
1 splash of Grenadine

Enjoy your weekend Ladies and Gents.. hope you find somebody this weekend that makes you scream Amen  I've got mine.( happy birthday Richie.. ive got a present for you <evil grin>)

Youre only as old as you feel...

BULLSH*T!!!  That's something you say to people who aren't aging well. And most people don't. hence the success of the beauty industry. I remember having a conversation with my friend Dayna on her birthday last year about how we've both changed since college. We both agreed that we looked better than we did back then.. ( No, I am not posting a picture of myself from back then.. they've all been destroyed) Most peope we know dont. Is it all good living or genetics? Ive been blessed with good genes 'cause black dont crack... I do also care for my skin and recently quit smoking  (5 weeks 3 days ago) all in an effort to hold on to the pretty. Does that make me vain and shallow? (Well who cares .. This is my blog.. mind ur business!!)

Some people spend billions of dollars a year to stay younger looking, by covering it up or rubbing it in. I believe in moderation so im not even going to address injectables or plastic surgery with this conversation Its sad actually.. because the people who are using it aren't the ones who really need it ( the people on this ferry with me today really need it. LOL)

I made a living off of those people for 14 years as a make up artist. So I get why some people choose not to use make up and go au naturalle. It can be a lot of work and cost a lot of money and they dont want to play the "game". They want to be loved for themselves, not what they look like.  Isn't physicality always the first thing you notice?  You dont walk up to a guy in a bar and compliment him on his problem-solving abiities. LOL. I think the people who use those excuses are just as bad as the beauty whores I raped a pillaged for their money in my make up career. I just think that if you have a means to make yourself look and feel better; not for other people but for yourself and you choose not to do it. Doesnt that say something about you too? What do you think? Thoughts? .
Lets face it. It is about how you look. It doesnt just apply to cosmetics and your beauty regiment. It applys to physical fitness and the way you dress. Ive been a fat man all my life. and I think im a pretty special guy. But people see me as the awesome friend or the guy with the great energy and rarely as the love interest...and im secure enough in myself to accept that for what it is.
Life is a revolving door of emotions especially when it comes to self-image It all boils down to loving who you are, embracing your differences.. and/or making the effort  to change (within reason) what you dont like about yoursef.. for you!! As one of my favorite quotes says.. "People are like stained glass windows, they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when darkness sets in, their true beauty is only seen if there is a light within." so shine on!!  and be you no matter how old or ugly you are in the light..  thats why they made candles.  LOL

Happy Birthday Josh.. ur inner light always shines bright.
Happy Thursday everybody!

What the what? Wednesdays

Good morning fairy fans! Any of you who who know me know that i am not a morning person. I am usually up pretty late each night watching the hours upon hours of TV that my DVR gobbles up every day. Last night was no exception.  Congrats to Rahm Emanuel, ex- Obama chief of staff is now Mayor elect for Chicago. Well wishes to Mary Murphy, ex judge on "So you think you can dance" who is officially cancer free. and will be returning to the hot tamale train this summer. And all my love to the victims of the New Zealand earthquake..  OK now back to important things like TV (spoiler alert)

OK what the what was with the color of the vomit on last nights episode?  it was grey.. gross. Why are they determined to make me hate Rachel? First they beat me over the head with her voice..then made her a slut and had her date all the male leads. now shes moving in on the gays.. I will cut her!!! "...your face tastes awesome" Ewwww

I'm all for naive people.. but Tyler has got to go.. I want him dead..  and don't you  think it was a little too soon for Erica to be ookin' at a new romantic interest after her ex was just gunned down last week? Tramp!!
I want the real "Dianna" to come out of the basement  and raise hell already... Lisa got in a good slap on her mother but shes gonna die for that..  Its like I always say in a fight.. you'd better kill me the first time 'cause you wont get a second chance to hit me.

Last but certainly not least RU  (Yes i know it was on Monday night.. I'm still catching up) Amber Rose???  Really? Aisha Tyler is hilarious and a well respected ho.. but Amber rose is only known for being Kanye West's ho.  Hey hey, ho ho... Delta Work has got to go..  I love her but she isn't giving me anything..  truly a disappointment..  Stacey lane should not have won that fat bitch has got to go ( I'm a fat bitch too so stop with the comment mail) I know Raja was pissed.. 'cause she looked fierce in her international Zulu warrior costume and did a great Tyra. ( for a of you young queens who don't know Raja was the name of one of the holograms from Jem and the Holograms..) I believe the children are our future .. and I'm teaching them well so that they can lead the way.. thanks Whitney. puff puff pass gurl!!!

Later Y'all

What you lookin' at willis?

You know when you can feel somebody looking at you?  then you look over at them and they look away.. and they look at you and you look away..  and so on and so on...  OR when you walk past a cute guy on the street and you both turn back to look at one another and you walk a little bit and turn back again and look one more time.. ?  I will never pass one of those opportunities up again..

Not that I'm one to believe in fate or people being meant for one another..I'm not particular religious.. in fact I'm an atheist.. so i don't believe in Divine intervention when it comes to my love/ sex life ( although i did see GOD last weekend during an "appointment" i had. thank you Jesus!!! can i get an AMEN. it was so good some of you even got a text message about it  LOL) OK enough about my business...but i think there are no accidents.. and why would you block the love from a cute stranger paying you some attention.. well unless hes crazy like the guy that approached my friend Jessica outside of work last week... or if your a construction worker on the streets of NYC cat calling "Ay Mommy " when a woman walks by..In those cases keep steppin'.... they will get you nowhere so use your best judgement.. for those of you who have it...

As for what to say to them...?  clearly you were both staring at each other.. so somebody wants something  OKRRRrrr!??  start with your name. and hello.. or are you single..LOL nothing worse than meeting a cutie who's already taken... don't waste your good lines on the taken.. "no one mourns the wicked"  ( shout out to the chorus)

OK off to work.. be good kids.. later

The fairy's coming...

Only 3 more days until "The Fairy on the Ferry" blog goes live!!!  Take 5 mins out from your day to read the rants and raves of this fairy's daily ride to civilization. Starting Monday, Feb 21st  Sign up and follow me!!!

A Little History....

A fairy (also faery, faerie, fay, fae; wee folk, good folk, people of peace, fair folk, etc.) is a type of  mythical being or legendary creature, a form of spirit, often described as metaphysical or supernatural.

Fairies resemble various beings of other mythologies, though even folklore that uses the term fairy offers many definitions. Sometimes the term describes any magical creature, including goblins or gnomes: at other times, the term only describes a specific type of more ethereal creature.

On any given day I could be described as any or all of those things.. (dont ring a bell I wont get my wings...and no I'm not giving you any money for your teeth ..you keep them. you need them!!) Generally I associate mostly with the gay affilliation. Hence this blog.
